Terms of Service

Last Updated: March 1, 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By using a MyLostFound QR code, registering an account, or scanning a QR code found on an item, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the service.

2. Description of Service

MyLostFound.com provides a QR-based notification relay service. We act as a privacy-focused intermediary between property owners and finders.

  • For Owners: We store contact preferences in a secure database linked to a unique QR code.
  • For Finders: We provide a secure interface to notify the owner that their item has been located without revealing private contact details unless authorized.
  • Service Limitation: We do not physically track items via GPS, nor do we post public "Lost" or "Found" listings.

3. How the QR System Works

Owners must provide accurate contact information to receive notifications. When a finder scans a QR code, MyLostFound.com attempts to relay a message to the owner. We do not guarantee that a finder will scan the code, nor can we guarantee a finder's intent.

4. Privacy & The "Privacy Buffer"

Our primary service is to facilitate a "blind" first contact. We will not display your phone number or email to a finder unless you explicitly configure your settings to show that information. Finders consent to share information at the time of the scan to assist in recovery.

5. Limitation of Liability

MyLostFound.com is a communication tool, not an insurance policy. We are not liable for unsuccessful recoveries, the physical condition of items, or any personal interactions/meetings between owners and finders.
