We collect information in two ways: through registration and through the use of our QR relay system.

• Owner Data: Name, email address, and phone number (used only for notifications).
• Communication: Content of messages sent through our secure relay form.
• IP Address: IP address of device connecting to our service.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected data strictly to facilitate the return of lost items:

• To send automated alerts (Email/SMS) to owners.
• To prevent fraud and abuse of the notification system.

3. Data Sharing & The "Privacy Buffer"

We do not sell your personal data. Your email and phone number are hidden from the person who finds your item by default. We only reveal your chosen contact method if you have explicitly enabled "Public Contact" in your tag settings.

4. Information for Finders

By scanning a MyLostFound QR code, you acknowledge that your approximate time of scan will be shared with the registered owner of the item to assist in its recovery. No other personal data is harvested from your device during a scan.

5. Data Retention

Owner data is kept as long as the account is active. Scan history is archived after 90 days. You may request full deletion of your data by contacting support@mylostfound. com

6. Mobile Terms & SMS Privacy

• Information Collection: When you register, we collect your phone number to send transactional alerts regarding found items.
• No Sharing of SMS Data: No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
• Opt-Out: You can cancel the SMS service at any time. Just text "STOP" to the number.
